”My Bergonzi violin chin rest model from Alexander Accessories has arrived. The fittings are made with non- allergenic titanium and alloys of surgical grade. However, I had ordered titanium clams because of the alloy the fittings are made of make an enormous difference on the sound perceived by the player. Unless one does many tests as we did using the same chin rest with fittings made with different alloys e.g., nikel, silver coated, gold coated , aluminium, titanium, one cannot realise how huge the difference. Granted, the titanium fittings cost more but without a doubt are well worth the extra.
